The course (3 credits) created in collaboration with Forthem delves into the sustainable development of modern waste management. The course covers problems, solutions and approaches related to the processing of various wastes in a multidisciplinary manner. Various waste fractions are examined in more detail, such as mining, electronic, construction and municipal waste, wastewater and biomass. The course includes e.g., a scientific and technical examination of material and energy flows, recycling and recovery methods and cost-benefit analyses. International legislation and economic aspects related to the topic are also highlighted. The issues are illustrated with practical examples and international case studies. The course can be completed independently online.
